LAURA COYLE Born in Montréal, Québec, raised in Connecticut and after graduating with a BFA in acting she began an artistic residency in New York City. Laura has been writing and performing for many years. She has recorded and performed hundreds of her original compositions winning a Billboard Songwriters Award along the way. Laura began her musical journey in the tri-state area where she became a mainstay at performances spaces such as; Toads Place, (New Haven, CT), but mostly Laura was a regular down in New York City’s Greenwich Village at all the popular venues: (The “Bitter End", The Village Gate, Cornelia Street Cafe, Cottonwood Cafe, Speakeasy, The Baggot Inn, The Wetlands, Downtime.) Laura regularly toured the tri-state area, Boston and Cape Cod, opening for Jonatha Brooke of “The Story” various times. Laura was a featured performer at the annual “Martha's Vineyard Singer Song-writer Retreat" at the Wintertide Coffee House started by Christine Lavin and is a featured artist, along with artist like Martin Sexton, on a CD compilation of the same name. She was also chosen as a finalist in the competition for The Guinness Fleadh Festival on Randall’s Island. After recording a three-song demo with top session players in Nashville in the late 90’s, Laura relocated to Los Angeles for 9 years to pursue her music and a career in acting. Laura cultivated a second loyal following on the left coast and appeared in countless Los Angeles venues some of which appear in the sidebar. While in Los Angeles Laura’s music attorney got her on Ed McMahon’s “Next Big Star” where she won “Best Female Vocalist”. Laura’s music receives a lot of airplay on Big Blue Radio a 24/7 streaming internet radio Station on the popular website Audiocandy.com where many of her songs have reached #1or are seen in the top five of several Audiocandy.com charts. Laura’s was launched in Japan when she first moved west and received national TV and radio exposure there. Laura also followed k.d. Lang’s month and was chosen herself as “Artist of the month” on the number one women’s website, ivillage.com. Laura now resides in her home state of Connecticut. Laura has released two full length CD’s, “Lift Your Head” and “Five Mile River Road,” along with many “samplers” over the years.
